Disney Theater Program

PS 88Q has proudly been part of the Disney Theater Productions team for the past ten years, bringing the magic of Disney to its students and community. Through the generous Disney Musicals in Schools grant, PS 88Q has been able to cultivate a vibrant theater program that provides students with the opportunity to participate in full-scale musical productions. This partnership has enriched the school's arts curriculum and fostered a love for theater in students.

The Disney Musicals in Schools program is designed to create sustainable theater programs in under-resourced schools, offering training and resources to educators to produce high-quality musical theater experiences. This initiative has allowed PS 88Q to stage several beloved Disney productions, including:

  • Annie: The heartwarming story of an optimistic orphan and her journey to find family and belonging.
  • Frozen: The tale of two royal sisters and their quest to save their kingdom, featuring memorable songs like "Let It Go."
  • The Lion King: The epic adventure of Simba, a young lion destined to be king, brought to life with vibrant costumes and powerful performances.
  • Aladdin: The magical story of a "diamond in the rough" who discovers a genie and wishes his way to true love and self-discovery.
  • Finding Nemo: The recent June performance, showcasing the underwater adventure of a clownfish father searching for his lost son, filled with colorful characters and heartfelt moments.

These productions have not only entertained audiences but also provided students with valuable skills in acting, singing, dancing, and teamwork. The grant has enabled PS 88Q to build a strong foundation for its theater program, fostering creativity and confidence in its students. As the school continues to shine on stage, the partnership with Disney Musicals in Schools promises to inspire and empower the next generation of performers
