My name is Linda O’Shaughnessy and I am excited to introduce myself as the Principal of P.S. 88Q. I am excited to start my third year as your Principal.
I have been a teacher for 26 years. I am lucky to have found my passion for teaching and learning early on, and have been blessed to call this passion my work. I am the mother of two daughters, both in college.
My motivation for becoming a leader was to create an environment where staff, students, and families feel inspired and passionate about teaching and learning. A school is indeed a second home for all. PS 88Q is a family!
Over this past year, schools have transitioned and transformed. Closing that door on March 19th, knowing we were about to begin teaching and learning in a whole new way was something I could have ever imagined. As a leader, I couldn’t be more proud of our staff and our community. We huddled together, and weathered the storm together. Our School Leadership Team created our tagline “Together We Can Achieve the Extraordinary” and this is exactly what PS 88Q did!
I am humbled and honored to be returning for the 2020-2021 school year. I am the instructional lead of Pre-K, K, and 1 and 2. Over the past 20 years, I had the opportunity to meet and engage with parents, students, community members, and staff on a daily basis. Building relationships with all critical stakeholders is very important to me, and I will continue to work to ensure students learn and grow every day at P.S. 88. Working with key stakeholders allows me to feel a sense of pride and motivates me to continually communicate and collaborate in an effort to meet the needs of our students.
If I can ever be of assistance, please call 718-821-8121 extension 1530 or 1531! It is through being a collaborative learning community with consistent, honest, and open communication that I can best serve our students.
I am overly enthused to be one of the assistant principals of P.S. 88. For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Mrs. Maria Palesty-Argyris, proud supervisor of the hardworking students of the third, fourth and fifth grades, as well as our Multilingual Learners (MLL) department.
The P.S. 88 vision that, “all students can learn and succeed” is always at the forefront of the daily decisions we make. Collaborating with teachers, parents and other community members, allows our school to carry out this vision and consistently highlight our students’ unique potentials.
I love staying in communication with all families throughout the school year. The best way to reach me is via email at email@example.com. I look forward to building a positive partnership with each of you to ensure our students have a successful academic school year.
