Linda O’Shaughnessy, Principal

My name is Linda O’Shaughnessy and I am excited to introduce myself as the Principal for P.S. 88.

I have been a teacher for 24 years. I am lucky to have found my passion for teaching and learning early on, and have been blessed to call this passion my work.

My motivation for becoming a leader was to create an environment where staff, students, and families feel inspired and passionate about teaching and learning.  A school is indeed a second home for all.

Candice Lowe, Assistant Principal

I am humbled and honored to be returning for the 2017-2018 school year as one of the three assistant principals who is the supervisor of Pre-K, K, and 1. Over the past 20 years, I had the opportunity to meet and engage with parents, students, community members, and staff on a daily basis. Building relationships with all critical stakeholders is very important to me, and I will continue to work to ensure students learn and grow every day at P.S. 88. Working with key stakeholders allows me to feel a sense of pride and motivates me to continually communicate and collaborate in an effort to meet the needs of our students.

If I can ever be of assistance, please call 718-821-8121 extension 1530 or 1531! It is through being a collaborative learning community with consistent, honest, and open communication that I can best serve our students.

Maria Palesty, Assistant Principal

I am overly enthused to be an assistant principals of P.S. 88.  For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Mrs. Maria Palesty-Argyris, proud supervisor of our English as a New Language (ENL) department, as well as the hardworking students of the third, fourth and fifth grades.

The P.S. 88 vision that, “all students can learn and succeed” is always at the forefront of the daily decisions we make.  Collaborating with teachers, parents and other community members allows our school to carry out this vision and consistently highlight our students’ unique potentials.   This school year, once again, we will be continuing our Adult Enrichment classes.  These classes provide an opportunity for parents, who have limited English, to come and learn the pertinent day to day language and skills necessary to be able to further help their children in the home.  This opportunity builds and strengthens a home-school connection.  Please reach out to Ms. Ramos, parent coordinator, if you are interested in this opportunity.

I love staying in communication with all families throughout the school year.  The best way to reach me is via email through email.  I look forward to building a positive partnership with each of you to ensure our students have a successful academic school year.
