Mr. Quintana

Principal

I would like to welcome everyone back from a hopefully well rested and well deserved summer vacation. I am very excited to say that our children went from 33% 3’s and 4’s to 41% 3’s and 4’s on our NY State Math test, that was a gain of nearly 8%. We are so proud of this accomplishment and could not have done this without our wonderful teachers, administrators, paraprofessionals and your commitment. We have a lot of activities planned for you this year, please mark your calendar.

If there is anything you need, please contact Ms. Ramos, our parent coordinator.

I love staying in communication with all families throughout the school year.  The best way to reach me is via email through email.  I look forward to building a positive partnership with each of you to ensure our students have a successful academic school year.

Mrs. Lafharis

A successful education stems from a positive environment, and positivity is the exact element I will instill within the classroom. Through my practice as an educator, I have learned to value every child for who they are. I have also learned to admire and appreciate different modification techniques. I have been fortunate enough to have been given the opportunity to have these valuable hands on experiences, as I also have been privileged with the proper training to work with children with disabilities. My passion is working with children. It is giving them the chance to explore and express themselves while providing the proper tools to enhance their education. And it is these tools that will be modified to accommodate the needs of every child and every behavior. My name is Mrs. Marianna Rammos. I have a BA in Psychology and a Masters of Science in Dual Certification for Special and General Education. I hold a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certificate, as I am currently enrolled at Hunter College to obtain an Advanced Certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis.

I am excited to now be part of the PS 88 community. I look forward to taking part of the many incredible programs P.S 88 offers and am eager to be a collaborative member of our team. My main goal is to facilitate an encouraging, stimulating, and nurturing learning environment. An environment that will also remain fun.  So, let’s keep an open mind and make this a great year!

I am the new Physical Education Teacher at P.S. 88! I am very excited to be teaching your children skills & health related fitness concepts, so that they are able to take this information at a young age and apply it to their daily lives. My goal as an educator is to create an environment full of positive energy, so that each child has every opportunity to be successful and make progress throughout the year. Each week, we will introduce a new skill that will be our primary focus and your child will be able to take on challenging tasks based on their current skill level. Your child will be exposed to a wide variety of sports, which will also encourage positive qualities like teamwork, leadership, sportsmanship and respect.

I look forward to a very successful, productive and fun school year!

Mrs. Lomaga

Academic Intervention Services Teacher

My name is Mrs. Lomaga and I am the AIS Reading Specialist at PS 88. I have been teaching reading at PS 88 for 20 years. The goal of AIS Reading is to provide children with additional support to help them achieve Common Core State Standards in the area of reading. It is my belief that reading is one of the most critical skills that children should develop. By becoming a stronger reader, they will increase their spelling, writing, and vocabulary abilities. It can be so exciting when a child begins to read and it is important to support their efforts in a positive way. I also believe that effective communication between parents and teachers is essential for building student success. Therefore, if you have any questions or concerns please contact me at ‪(718) 821-8121‬ or through email me. I'm looking forward to another successful school year!

School Based Physical Therapy

Physical Therapy is a related service provided to assist a child with a disability to benefit from special education. School Physical Therapy focuses on a child's ability to move as independently as possible in the school environment. The school Physical Therapist evaluates the child's ability to move throughout the school and to participate in classroom activities. The decision of whether a child with a disability qualifies for school Physical Therapy is made by a team. This team determines whether the child has a disability, has a need for special education, and requires related services such as Physical Therapy.

Physical Therapy interventions are designed to enable the student to travel throughout the school environment; participate in classroom activities; maintain and change positions in the classroom; as well as manage stairs, restrooms, playground, transportation (Bussing) and the cafeteria.
