Message from Senator Addabbo

Hello to the entire P.S. 88Q family. It has been an honor to represent you as your State Senator. As a member of the Senate Education Committee, and a father of two children in the elementary public school system, I hold educational issues as a...

Someone in your child’s classroom may have a severe food allergy to peanuts/nuts.  It is important that there is strict avoidance to this food in order to prevent a life-threatening allergic reaction that requires emergency medical treatment.  We need to provide all students with a safe school environment.

Please do not send any peanut- or nut-containing products to school with your child that will be eaten in the classroom.  If your child has eaten peanuts/nuts before coming to school, please be sure your child’s hands and face have been thoroughly washed before entering the school.

Please do not send any birthday cakes, cupcakes or other foods containing any type of nuts to celebrate your child’s birthday.  I will be happy to celebrate your child’s birthday in class as long as this exception is made.  In addition, please let me know, at least three days in advance when you will be sending food into school in order to celebrate your child’s birthday.

I appreciate your support of these procedures.  Please complete and return the attached form so we are certain you have received this information.  A copy of the letter has been sent home with your child. Please contact me if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Mr. Quintana

Principal, P.S. 88Q
