February leaves as quickly as it arrives. Schools are closed from Friday, February 16th through Friday, February 23rd for President’s Day and mid-winter recess. Schools will resume on Monday, February 26th.
February is also American Heart Month and National African American History Month. I think that it is imperative to take a moment and recognize all of the accomplishments and contributions that African Americans such as Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks, Barack Obama, Jackie Robinson, and so many more have made to our great nation. I have provided with some wonderful websites for you to view where you will find a myriad of information that memorializes many of these accomplishments. One of my favorites is PBS.org. There you will find different activities that you can do with your children as well as Black History Month recipes for those families that enjoy cooking together. I am sure you will find something for you and your family. Feel free to click or the following links:
February 14th is Valentine’s Day. Did you know:
Approximately 150 million Valentine's Day cards are exchanged annually, making Valentine's Day the second most popular card-sending holiday after Christmas.
In recognition of American Heart Month I encourage you to visit such sites as
where you will find many different activities that you are family can do to live a healthier lifestyle.
