I hope all of our families are doing well during this most challenging time. As we begin to think about the upcoming holiday, Thanksgiving, I am reminded of all the things I am thankful for this year. My family, my two daughters, and my amazing friends who have helped me through this past year. We are all faced with so many unforeseen obstacles. In a matter of days, our “normal” schedule, routines and plans changed, but we were thankful to be together through it. I am thankful for the PS 88Q community for being so amazing. Our staff literally shifted to a remote world when needed, and never lost sight of why we do this work. Our families supported each other, and together we kept our children the focus. Thank you !
Here we are though, still in a sense of limbo, while we wait for daily updates from our Mayor on contagion rates. As we know, a citywide rate of 3% or higher would force NYC Public Schools to shift to an all remote platform. Each day we teeter on that number, but we continue on. Please follow the Mayor, as well as us on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook for updates immediately. Also, check our website and emails will be sent to your child’s gmail if there is any change. Please stop by the front of the school (Catalpa Avenue) daily for resources that we will be distributing. Books, workbooks, manipulatives, dictionaries. Our children can benefit from these offline activities as well.
We just closed our opt in period for returning to blended learning, and will begin reprogramming our school. Our SLT will meet this week to discuss options to our model, and we will communicate our new program to our families.
We continue to have weekly COVID-19 testing at PS 88Q, as we are in the yellow zone. We thank the families who have consented to testing. Any questions, please feel free to reach out to me anytime.
Have a wonderful week!
